Annual Folk, Roots & Blues Festival
Blue Mountains Australia
Located throughout a variety of venues in the Katoomba area, you will
experience a three-day musical extravaganza. Treat your ears and sooth
your soul to the rhythm of mandolins, flutes, piano, fiddles and so much
more as world-class musicians from Australia and around the world
entertain you.
If there is one musical instrument or style of music that suites your
fancy more than another, no worry, you will find it here.
The Folk, Roots and Blues Festival
(sometimes just called the Blue Mountains
Blues Festival)
For three days, every year in March the streets, shops, lounges and
various other locations fill the Blue Mountains with performances that
mesmerize audiences. Musicians know how to stir the soul and hit every
key inside of a person’s heart – and these musicians do so in a relaxed
and yet intimate atmosphere.
At the food stalls, taste the cuisine of the locals. Wrap your lips
around gourmet produces, or the heavenly delicacies of handmade
chocolates, sublime cakes or local fish and chips. Whatever your stomach
fancies, you will find it during these three days of the Festival.
Craft stalls allow the visitors to not only see and purchase the
wonderful crafts made by the locals, but by Australian’s of other
regions as well. Artisans display their incredible artistic skills and
happily share their knowledge with others as to how things are made.
The children are easily entertained by not only the many musical
venues, but various activities set up just for them, such as the
children’s performance workshops.
The poet’s brunch is an opportunity to meet with the poet’s and talk
with them about their craft, what inspires them to create and how they
come up with the finished product ultimately called their poetry.
Just a minor drive from Sydney or a quick stroll from the Katoomba
railway station, getting to the Festival is fairly easy to do and well
worth the time you spend visiting the area. Watch the calendar for dates
on the next Blue Mountains Blues Festival and make sure you plan to
attend!
